ACADEMICS - Music Department

Welcome to the Music Department here in Graves Hall!

For all students at Phillips Academy music is part of the curriculum at some time in their career. The great number of ensembles, choral and instrumental, offer performance opportunities to students at whatever their level of expertise. Students can come here with years of experience playing an instrument and find themselves among students with similar musical backgrounds. Equally, a student can come here with no experience whatever and find exciting opportunities to make music in a variety of settings.

With nine residents faculty and 28 adjunct faculty in our department, there is exceptionally strong professional support for every kind of musical endeavor, whether it is music theory classes,

a cappellasinging groups, work in the electronic music studio, African drumming or just taking lessons on one of the multitude of instruments taught on campus. The performance program, enriched by classroom study for all students, offers between 60 and 70 concerts a year, all open to the public.

Please tour our Web pages for more information about the music program.

Best wishes,
