Employment Opportunities

Be part of Andover’s (MS)2 experience this summer!!

June 26 - Aug. 8, 2008

The (MS)2 Program is an academic summer program in mathematics and science for students of color, conducted by Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. The program was established in 1977 in response to a growing awareness that African American, Native American and Hispanic/Latino people are acutely underrepresented in the medical, engineering, and scientific professions.  Evidence is overwhelming that a strong background in mathematics and science, gained during the high school years, is essential to enable a young person to successfully prepare for a career in a math/science based professional field.  The aim of the (MS)2 program is to supplement the work of public high schools and help able students develop competence and self-confidence for the demanding college courses in science and mathematics that are crucial for work in the technical professions.

Students enter the (MS)2 Program during the summer following their ninth grade year, and for three successive summers they spend five weeks taking courses in mathematics, science and English or college counseling at Phillips Academy.  For the (MS)2 students, tuition, room, board, textbooks and, in some instances, travel and/or expenses are paid for by the program. Admission to the program is highly selective (with about five applicants for each place) and is based on scholastic achievement, academic potential, interest in mathematics and science, personal recommendations of high school teachers and financial need.  Approximately forty new students, drawn from designated cities, as well as non-specific Native American communities, enter the program each summer.

Every year we look for Faculty and TAs in each of the following disciplines: biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, English and college counseling.  If you are interested in being either a faculty or a TA, please follow the appropriate link below for more information.
