Phillips Academy Wins 2009 National Economics Competition
In its first year ever competing, Phillips Academy defeated more than 2000 other teams from across the country to become champions in the 2009 National Economics Challenge Finals in New York City on May 18. Seniors Tiffany Li, Kwon-Yong Jin, James Foster and Ben Elder each received $4000 in U.S. Savings Bonds. The team was led by history and social science instructors Carroll Perry and Aneesa Sayall. Teams were required to answer rigorous questions about complex economic concepts and theories of micro- and macroeconomics, international economics and current events in a quiz bowl format.
