Playing For Pink

Phillips Academy’s varsity field hockey team hosted Middlesex School on Wednesday, October 20 in a match titled “Playing for Pink.” In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, both teams forwent their usual colors — Andover blue and Middlesex cardinal — to don uniforms of pink and white, respectively.

Andover co-captain Kellie Walsh ’11 (of Andover, Mass.) masterminded the match to support “Runway for Recovery,” a foundation started by the team’s assistant coach, Olivia Achtmeyer, instructor of English. Runway for Recovery hosts nights of glamour and cocktails, where survivors, their family members, and those who have lost loved ones to the disease.
