Alison Smith Lord ’85 joins Phillips Academy Board of Trustees

She will serve a two-year term as an alumni trustee

Alison Smith Lord—Peter Currie ’74, president of the Phillips Academy Board of Trustees, announced that Alison Smith Lord ’85, of New York City, has joined the board. She will serve a two-year term as an alumni trustee and co-chair of the Annual Giving Board (AGB), succeeding Lee Westerfield ’86, who previously held the seat. Her term is effective July 1.

Smith Lord has served in a number of capacities to support Andover’s fundraising, volunteer and engagement efforts. In addition to her AGB leadership, she has also served as a head class agent, reunion chair, career mentor and member of the Alumni Council Executive Committee.

Currently Global Head of Talent, Creative Lab, Google, Inc., Smith Lord’s professional career has also included work in human resources and executive recruitment. Prior to joining Google, she served as a partner and recruiter for Tangerine from 2010-2013 and general manager for human resources with Lowe New York (1999-2008).

Serving her local community, she has been a trustee for St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s School in New York from 2007-2017 and is founder of the Cameron and Hayden Lord Foundation.

A graduate of Yale University, Smith Lord lives with her husband, Tim Lord, and their children, Annie and Mary, in New York. Her grandfather, the late Hayden Smith, graduated from Andover in 1919. Daughter Annie is a member of the Class of 2019.
