–On Sunday, April 9, more than 250 students from 23 schools across New England will visit campus for the seventh annual Asian American Footsteps Conference, a daylong event that offers Asian, Asian American and mixed-heritage Asian students an opportunity to participate in activities, workshops and networking sessions.

This year’s keynote speaker will be poet, teacher and editor Tina Chang, who will present “Roots and Wings: Art and Poetry.”

First hosted by Andover in 2011, the conference seeks to inspire youth to embrace their identity and culture; educate students through stimulating workshops and speakers; connect and foster a community within the independent school network to share ideas and experiences; and affirm experiences of Asian, Asian American and mixed-heritage Asian students.
