  • BioMedNet Research Tools
    A collection of databases intended for biological and medical researchers. Registration is required, but free.
  • Food and Drug Administration
    Full text reports, the "Bad Bug Book" of food-borne pathogens, new drug approvals, and a Reference Room are some of the features in this official and easy-to-navigate site.
  • Institute for Molecular Virology
    From the University of Wisconsin, Madison, this site includes VirusWorld, an images and animation database as well as web links to virus information.
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
    The CDC is a U.S. government agency devoted "to preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability." Many full text reports, a Hoaxes and Rumors link, Emerging Infectious Diseases, a peer-reviewed journal tracking and analyzing disease trends, and more.

    This website contains a collection of primary documents relating to women and social movements in the United States between 1830 and 1930. Search engine provided.
  • Contributions of 20th Century Women to Physics
    An historical archive with many pictures in preparation for The American Physical Society centenary in 1999.
  • Women's History in Archival Collections
    A listing of collections alphabetically by state, from The Archives for Research on Women and Gender at the University of Texas in San Antonio.

    The Feminist Majority Foundation homepage is current and wide ranging with a good list of links to many other places.

    The Women's Studies Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries maintains this gateway in the categories of: general, archives, art, business, culture( mostly literature), education, film, health, history, international, lesbian, music, philosophy, politics, science and technology and theology.
  • Women's Studies: a research guide
    This NYPL site is a good place to begin research with links to print and electronic resources.
  • Women's Studies Database
    The University of Maryland began this well-developed database in 1992 and in addition to the usual links, there is a Reading Room with full-text fiction and non-fiction books, and a Reference Room with directories of women's organizations.

  • To find official state information, replace XX with the two letter state abbreviation: http://www.state.XX.us (for example, www.state.ma.us is Massachusetts)
  • To find official town information, add the name of the town along with the state and use "town" instead of "state" in the URL. (for example, www.town.andover.ma.us is Andover, Massachusetts.) Not every town has an official site, however.
