    National Library of Medicine's consumer database. It is very user-friendly.
  • PUB MED
    National Library of Medicine's database of eleven million citations. There are some links to journal home pages here, or try looking up the citation on InfoTrac. See a Librarian for Interlibrary Loan.
  • Medscape
    From Web M.D., an extensive medical and health site offering a wide range of topics and catering to different levels of interest. Maintains a journal article database and a search engine for locating needed materials. Users must register, but the service is free.
  • HighWire
    Access to over 4,500 medical journals, some available full text. Search both HighWire and Medline simultaneously.

    This government science portal searches U.S. government science and technology sites. Choose up to ten resources to search, websites plus a number of databases including PubMed from the National Library of Medicine. The result list is separated by the chosen resources.
  • Biomed Central
    Covers over 100 open access covering all areas of biology and medicine.
  • U.S. Food and Drug Administration
    This well organized and authoritative website has health news of current interest, hot topics and research studies.
  • Go Ask Alice
    Brought to you by Columbia University's Health Education Program, this site offers a health question and answer forum. "The mission of Go Ask Alice! is to provide factual, in-depth, straightforward, and nonjudgmental information to assist readers' decision-making about their physical, emotional, and spiritual health."
  • HIV InSite
    A University of California at San Francisco textbook database covering the medical, social and educational issues related to AIDS/HIV.
  • Complete Home Medical Guide
    An online book by the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons containing extensive listing of various diseases and health concerns.
  • Meta Directory at Hardin Library
    From the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences at the University of Iowa, a list of lists in three categories--long, medium and short. An interesting gateway approach, and easy to use.
