Find an Audiobook

The  OWHL actively acquires unabridged, downloadable audio books which may be played on a personally-owned iPod (or similar device) or on one of the devices available for loan.  The OWHL has three separate collections of audio books.

• Audio books on Playaways.  Playaways are about the size of a deck of cards, and come pre-loaded with an individual title.  Click here to see a list of our books on Playaways.  The devices are available to be checked out at the circulation desk of the OWHL.
• OWHL-Mediated iPod audio books.  The OWHL has a collection of downloadable audio titles which we can put on an individually owned iPod or one of the library’s iPods.  Click here to see a list of titles we already own in our catalog.
• Self-Service Audio books. Through the NOBLE consortium, the OWHL subscribes to Overdrive Audio,  a service that provides access to hundreds of unabridged fiction and non-fiction books that may be played on iPods and other MP3 devices.  The OWHL has devices for loan to members of the PA community.   For more information on how to use Overdrive Audio, refer to Overdrive’s Help – Quick Start Guide   In addition, PA students and faculty can use the Overdrive Audio collection at the Boston Public Library. If we can't provide access to a title that you want in any of these three ways, you may request that we download a new title.  We strongly encourage all members of our community to suggest titles for our collection.  Send all requests to Sara Ciaburri, Instructional Librarian.  See any librarian for help with using any these collections and technologies.
