Find a Film

What?
The OWHL maintains a diverse collection of films on VHS and DVD.  The collection  of more than 1800 films was a gift of the Class of 1999 with additional funding from the Class of 1949.  We purchase new DVD’s on a regular basis and have an excellent selection of popular films, foreign language films, and documentaries.

Where?
Our DVD collection is located in the front lobby of the library in front of the circulation desk.  Our VHS collection is located on the first floor of the library in the S2 level of the stacks and is organized alphabetically by title.

When?
You may check out films whenever the library is open.  DVDs have a loan period of 3 days, and VHS tapes circulate for a week.

How?
You can search our film collection using our online catalog and using the words film, DVD, or VHS in your keyword search.  You can find a list of new films here. You can also find films by browsing the collection.  Feature films are organized alphabetically by title for easy browsing.  "Non-fiction" films are organized by the Dewey Decimal system and are shelved separately.  These films have a bright yellow band under the call number.    Foreign language films are marked with a blue dot.  Films suitable for children (G ratings) are marked with a red dot.
