WorldCat  stands for World Catalog and is exactly that.  WorldCat  lets you search the collections of libraries in your community and thousands more around the world.  By typing in your zipcode you can see what local libraries own the item that you are looking for.

Once you are able to find the closest library with the item,ask any librarian to complete an inter-library loan request for the item.

Tip!  It can often take a few weeks for a book to arrive via inter-library loan, so start your research early!
