Get Help with Technology
Who?
Are you stuck trying to make an Excel chart for an assignment? Do you need to use Photoshop to enhance images that you are going to use in a PowerPoint presentation? Does trying to format pages in Microsoft Word drive you to distraction? Then you should get help from the friendly technology specialists at the PACC.
What?
The PACC offers computers, printers and scanners, and a variety of specialty software. The PACC also stocks and sells small technology items in demand by students.
Most importantly, the PACC has a team of technology specialists who are happy to help you use the Microsoft Office suite and other software that you need for your assignments. You can get help on issues ranging from getting your computer (or iPhone!) on the wireless to using specialty software like Omnipage Pro.
Note: Neither the PACC technology specialists nor the Techmasters can help you with hardware issues on your own computer. The PACC contracts with a computer technician whom you may consult for those issues on Thursdays from 4:00 to 7:00.
When?
You can get advice and support on the PACC’s equipment and software any time the PACC is open.
- You can get help on software issues on your personal computer from Techmasters during the Techmaster “office hours.”
- You can get help with hardware issues on your own computer on Thursday evenings from the PACC’s technology contractor. You will need to pay for these services.
Where?
The PACC is located on the ground floor of the OWHL. You can get there most easily by going down the stairs located just inside the campus entrance of the library.
Why?
Software can be complicated. You are busy. Why waste time trying to figure out how to use software for an assignment by yourself when you can save time just by asking for help?
How?
Just stop by the desk at the PACC and introduce yourself to the technology specialist. Explain your problem. Most of the specialists are cross-trained on a variety of software, and so the specialist on duty should be able to help you. If your question is quite complicated and another staff member has special expertise in that program, the specialist on duty will tell you when to come back.
