OWHL Celebrates Black History Month

February is Black History Month.  Celebrate and learn more about notable African-Americans and their achievements at the OWHL.  Check out our many print and electronic resources for information on Black History in all fields, including sports, entertainment, literature, music, politics, and science.

The Oxford African American Studies Center, an excellent electronic resource available through OWHL subscription to members of the PA community, is devoted solely to African Americans and events that have affected them.  It contains over 4,000 biographies, and 10,000 articles containing primary sources, timelines, maps and charts, and much more.

Be sure to peruse the online catalog for our books, downloadable audiobooks, and movies, too.  Some new acquisitions are:

Letters from Black America, edited by Pamela Newkirk
King’s Dream, by Eric J. Sundquist
Red and Me: My Coach, My Lifelong Friend [downloadable audiobook], by Bill Russell with Alan Steinberg
Digging: The African American Soul of American Classical Music by Amiri Baraka
