Dole Room
The Dole Room is located on the main floor, directly opposite the original entrance to the library. The room formerly was the main lobby of the library and the Circulation area was located there. It is currently used for library instruction and collaborative study.
The room is named for Alexander Dole, an alumnus from the class of 1920. Home- schooled for most of his early years, Dole formed a great attachment to Andover and became a generous donor. During Dole’s tenure at Andover the library was located in Brechin Hall. The OWHL was built shortly after Dole graduated, and when it was extensively renovated in the 1980s the Dole Room was named in his honor. Upon his death in 1993, a memorial service was held in the room. His portrait is on the South Wall.
