Stars Win Championship

Over Hurricanes

6 - 2

Dan Roy

(3 Goals & 3 Assists)

This game was thought to be a tight one as these two teams battled three times during the regular season and went 1-1-1, but it was all Stars right from the start.  The Stars jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead and carried that into the second period.  In the second the Stars kept putting the pressure on but were only able to capitolize on one.  Down 3-0 in the third the Hurricanes looked like they were going to start a rally by scoring their first goal and cutting the deficit to two but the Stars answered right back to take another three goal lead.  The Canes were able to score another goal but it was not enough as the Stars popped in two more before the final buzzer to win the Coffee Pot League Championship 6-2.

1st - Stars - Pat Keenan (Dan Roy), Roy (Unassisted)

2nd - Stars - John Reck (Roy)

3rd - Stars - Roy (Ben Ruggles), Roy (Unassisted), Mike Onisky (Roy)  Hurricanes - John Lonergan (Unassisted), Chris O'Reilly (Unassisted)

Rangers Beat Bruins

In Consolation Game

11 - 9

Matt Gray

(2 Goals & 4 Assists)

Both teams in this contest were all about the o-fense for the entire game which made a very long game for both goaltenders.  Eight goals were scored in the first alone as the Rangers and Bruins were all tied up after one. In the second the goal scoring slowed down a bit as the Rangers outscored the Bruins 3-2 and took a 7-6 lead into the third.  In the third the offense continued to roll for both teams but the Rangers again outscored the Bruins 4-3 and took the consolation game 11-9.

1st - Rangers - Eric Matlin (Ben Ruggles), Steve Silversides (Jim O'Brien), Steve Hunt (Silversides), Silversides (Sam Reeves, Chris Bergan)  Bruins - John Gangi (Matt Gray, Dan Roy), Gangi (Roy, Gray), Mark Miller (Steve Lilly), Gangi (Roy, Gray)
