Supposedly built by King William Rufus, this fortress stands just west of the village of Easton, or "East Quarriers." "In the evening [Pierston] went out and paced downthe lane to the Red Kings's castle overhanging the cliff, beside whose age the castle he occupied ['Sylvania'] was but a thing of yesterday." (II,vi)
