OUTDOOR TRACK
Opened in 1988, the outdoor track is named after legendary
PA track coach, Steve Sorota and is one of the best track
facilities anywhere in New England.
The Sorota Track is an 8-lane, all weather 400m outdoor track
with accompanying first-rate field event facilities including
four long/triple jump pits, two shot rings, a full javelin
runway, with a collegiate disc cage, high jump pit, and pole
vault pit.
INDOOR TRACK
The Case Memorial Cage hosts a 150 yard indoor track, a 50
yard straight away, an upstairs balcony practice track, and
first rate facilities for long jump, high jump, pole vault,
and shot put. Although the Andover track teams compete against
many other teams in New England, the most anticipated contest
of the season is the meet against Andover's sister school,
Phillips Exeter Academy.
Andover, founded in 1778 by Samuel Phillips and Exeter, founded
in 1781 by his uncle John Phillips, have maintained the oldest,
continuous independent school rivalry in the country. The
first track meet between the two schools took place in 1889.
