The PA girls varsity squash team travelled to Exeter for a
rematch Wednesday. The result was the same--a 4-3 win for
the Red team. Charlotte Macmillan, Cara Ruccolo, and Skylar
Washburn, playing at #s 2, 3, and 4 respectively, earned wins
for the Blue. MacMillan came through with another gutsy 3-2
win, as she has several times this season. Ruccolo battled
valiantly and attacked beautifully despite playing without
feeling 100%. Meanwhile, Washburn continued her solid, athletic
play. JeanMarie Gossard, Emily Watson, Anne Myers, and Diana
Grace had their moments of good squash as well, but were unable
to string together enough quality points to win.
Friday we hosted Middlesex. Despite missing our #3, Cara Ruccolo,
due to illness we played good squash and lost a very close
match, 3-4. Diana, Charlotte, and Skylar won their matches
at #1, 2, and 3. Everyone had moments of excellent play.
The PA girls varsity squash team lost to Groton Wednesday
6-1. Skylar Washburn came back after losing her first game
to post an impressive 3-1 win at #4. Charlotte MacMillan and
Emily Watson also played well for the Blue. The team tournament
start on Thursday, and Friday PA hosts Middlesex at 4:00.
On Friday the PA girls varsity squash team travelled to Deerfield
to take on a veteran squad for the Green. Though the team
victory went to Deerfield 6-1, Andover did earn a win at #
2 where Charlotte MacMillan once again played an intelligent,
gritty match.
PA traveled to Milton and lost 6-1 in girls varsity squash
to a very deep opponent. Andover's win came at #2 where Charlotte
Macmillan played another excellent match. She controlled play
with her mix of good length, court coverage, and timely drops.
# 1 Diana Grace bravely battled to a dignified loss after
getting pegged hard on the thigh with the ball at point blank
range. She's okay, but she'll be wearing that "tattoo"
for a few days.

The girls varsity squash team played a good match and lost
4-3 to a solid Noble and Greenough team. Charlotte Macmillan
played a superb match to win 3-1 at the # 2 spot. Skylar Washburn(#4)
and JeanMarie Gossard (#6) also won well-played contests.
Cara Ruccolo (#3) fought valiantly to get into her match after
being down 0-2, but she couldn't quite put herself over the
top. The team's season record is now 2-7.
The varsity girls Squash team took on Brooks Saturday and
came away with a 7-0 victory. At number 1, Diana Grace won
9-0, 9-2, 9-0. Charlotte MacMillan won her match at number
2, 9-6, 9-2, 9-1. PA's #3 Skylar Washburn won in a good match
at 9-1, 9-1, 9-3. At number 4 Emily Watson won 9-1, 9-1, 9-5,
and JeanMarie Gossard won 9-5, 9-3, 9-2. Pawina Jiramongkolchai
played on the narrow courts, and played a really good match.
After losing her first game 7-9, she rallied to win the next
three 9-5, 9-5, 9-6. Jiramongkolchai made some good adjustments,
such as staying further up on the court then the actual T,
to secure her match. The whole team played well in earning
the win.
The girls varsity squash team lost to a deep Groton this afternoon
2-5. Skylar Washburn used hard, straight drives to pin her
opponent in the back for a solid 3-1 win at #4. Emily Watson
pulled out a thrilling, well-earned 3-2 victory at # 6, winning
the fifth game in overtime, 10-8.
The varsity girls squash team came very close but couldn't
squeak out a win against visiting Exeter on Saturday. The
Red picked up the 4-3 victory. The Blue then took on perennial
prep school champion, Greenwich Academy, and came away empty
7-0. PA's #2 Charlotte MacMillan, #3 Cara Ruccolo and #4 Skylar
Washburn competed particularly well against Exeter with MacMillan
turning in a very impressive 9-0, 9-0, 9-2 victory in the
number 2 slot. All three players who won against Exeter established
good length and attacked the front corners effectively. PA's
#1 Diana Grace looked as though she might turn her match around
when she won the third game, but she had some difficulty against
her left-handed opponent. While the players toward the bottom
of the PA varsity ladder are still paying for their inexperience,
Coach Hodgson sees definite improvement throughout the squad.

Andover took on two strong Connecticut teams at home Saturday
in girls varsity squash. PA competed well, but both Taft and
Loomis-Chaffee defeated the Blue 7-0. The PA team now has
a clear picture of the challenge they face in getting ready
for Interschols at the end of February.
The girls varsity squash team hosted Choate on Saturday with
the visiting Boars earning a 4-3 victory. PA's top three players
played well and won. The match of the day was at #2 where
Andover's Charlotte MacMillan prevailed 10-8 in the fifth
game after going down 8-5.
(a make-up from December)
The girls varsity squash team travelled to Tabor on Wednesday
for a match that was snowed out in December. PA took 10 players
and won nine matches on the day. The official final score
was 7-0 for Andover. First time varsity winners were Emily
Watson, Anne Myers, and JeanMarie Gossard. The girls in Blue
will host Choate on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
