Heather Gotha, Harvard
'02, started for the Crimson, notched an unassisted goal in
her first varsity game, as Harvard bowed to UMass by a 10-3
margin. On April 3, 1999 she scored 2 goals for Harvard against
Yale. Then, unfortunately, she tore her ACL in the B.U.
game and was finished for the season. Gotha is skipping soccer
in the Fall of 1999 while she continues rehabbing.
Working her way back from an ACL injury, Heather scored her
first goal of the season for Harvard in an April 19, 2000,
game against Dartmouth.

Captain Whitney Grace, Yale
'02, is playing varsity lacrosse. As a freshman,Whitney scored
her first goal on St. Patrick's Day in an 11-6 triumph over
Holy Cross. She wound up the regular season with 3 goals and
1 assist, seeing limited duty in five games due to a nagging
hamstring injury. Whitney
did switch to defense for the '00 season, but "injuries and
other time commitments forced Whit to give up varsity lacrosse
following the 2000 season."

Annie Morris, University
of Maryland '02, is playing lacrosse for perennial power
Maryland, which has won the NCAA championship 1994-98. Maryland
finished the 1999 regular season a perfect 18-0. Breaking
into the lineup for the first time as a freshman, Annie scored
2 goals on 2 shots, as #1 Maryland routed Brown 18-3 on March
22, 1999. Annie saw significant playing time in the 21-3 rout
of the Crimson.

Mary Barensfeld, Dartmouth
College '01, chipped in with 7 goals and 7 assists in
1998 as a freshman for Dartmouth, the nation's highest scoring
team. In 1999, Dartmouth won the Ivy League championship
again, and lost to #2 ranked Virginia in the Div. I NCAA quarterfinals.
After two years, Mary has given up lacrosse and has taken
up rugby, playing for the Dartmouth
club team in the Fall of 1999. She scored her first try
for the B-side in a win over Amherst.

Stephanie Hunter, Davidson
College '01
From the 1999 Davidson media guide: "Sophomore Stephanie
Hunter is an exciting player to watch. She led the team in
interceptions her freshman year, starting all 14 games, and
should be on top again this season. Stephanie is a great leader
on defense and also a threat on attack, contributing with
four goals and five assists. She has great game sense and
reads the other team's attack well."
In 1999, Steph scored 14 goals and 7 assists in 12 games
from her defensive position though April 3, 1999 including
4 goals in the game against Johns Hopkins, and an OT goal
to beat Richmond 10-9 on April 3, 1999. Steph visited Andover
in October, 1999 for the Choate weekend.
Steph Hunter, although primarily a defender, nevertheless
was No. 3 scorer for Davidson with 25 goals and 15 assists
for 40 points. Steph will return in 2001 for her senior season
(Spring 2000).
Steph has been elected co-captain of the women's varsity
lacrosse team for 2001 at Davidson.Ê A senior, Steph anchors
the defense and is also among the team's scoring leaders.

Melita Sawyer
played field hockey at Stanford in 1998. A preseason injury
knocked Melita out of the 1999 field hockey season, but she
will be back at Stanford in the fall.
Melita Sawyer was co-captain of the Stanford field hockey
team in 2000.

Lael Burnes, Bowdoin
College '00, captain.
Lael got a record 7 goals for Bowdoin in a 17-7 victory over
Babson in 1999. At 5'2", Lael had 25 points on 15 goals and
10 assists during the regular season in 1999. Her team made
the NCAA Div. III playoffs.
Captain Lael Byrnes led Bowdoin to a 10-2 record with 20
goals and 28 assists for 48 points. Bowdoin was edged out
for the NCAA tourney by conference foes Williams and Middlebury,
to whom it lost by 1 and 2 points respectively (Spring 2000).
5/2000 Lael was named a 2nd team Division III All American,
NE Region.

Jean Ficociello, Harvard
College '00, captain.
Jean switched from attack to defense in 1998, although she
still took most of the draws, and played almost every minute
of every game. Jean was named to the 2000 All-Ivy Lacrosse
Team as a defender.
Jeanne Ficcocello has been named to the Division I Regional
All-American 1st team. (5/25/00)

Julie played field hockey at Stanford.

Abby Harris, Union
College '00, captain.
Abby
had 53 goals and 19 assists for 72 points in 19 games to
lead her conference in scoring and set a new team scoring
record in 1999. She was selected as a Div. III Second
Team All-American. Union played in the NCAA Div. III tournament
for the first time, falling to Rowan. The 5'4" Harris has
been Union's leading scorer the last two years, and is also
first team All-Conference in soccer.
Captain Abby Harris led Union in scoring for the third straight
year, with 43 goals, 22 assists and 65 points. Abby was selected
tournament MVP as Union won the New York Womens Collegiate
Athletic Association championship for the first time in school
history. (spring 2000).
5/2000 Abby was named a 1st team Division III All American,

Erica Prahl, Kenyon
College '00, captain.
As a goalie, Erica played every minute of every game in the
net for Kenyon in 1997 and 1998, then was sidelined by a knee
injury. She recovered in time to lead her team to a 12-10
triumph over Ohio Wesleyan in the 1999 season opener - the
first victory in 10 years over Kenyon's traditional rival
- and again played virtually the entire season in goal. She
is also goalie for the field hockey team, of which she was
elected team captain.
Erika Prahl has switched from goalie to midfield as a senior
at Kenyon.

College '00. Her team made the ECAC Div. III playoffs
in 1998 and 1999. We hear she's thinking about doing a term
abroad in Australia. She also played field hockey.

College '99, was a two-year lacrosse captain. She was
elected an Academic All-American as a senior.

Ali Coughlin,
Princeton '99, onetime holder of the Andover lax single-season
scoring record - passed up lacrosse at Princeton in favor
of ice hockey. She led her team in scoring as a Junior and
as a Senior and was nominated for the national Katzenmaier
Award as "the intercollegiate varsity ice hockey playerwho
represented the highest standards of personal and team excellence."

Vanessa Kerry, Yale University '99, four-year varsity
player, 1998, 1999 Academic All American. DeLaney Kiputh Award
for the senior athlete at Yale who ranks highest in scholarship.

Vanessa
enjoyed a solid season patrolling the midfield last season.
She played in every game and notched nine goals
and one assist. Her two goals against Boston College helped
the Bulldogs to a 17-8 victory. She also enjoyed success
off the field, earning Academic All-America honors from the
USWLCA. As a sophomore, Kerry scored five goals in thefirst
nine games before losing the rest of the season to injury.
As a freshman, she appeared in nine games, starting two.
At
Phillips Academy, she captained her team to a league championship
her senior year.
She was twice named a second-team All-American.

Heidi Cline
Amherst
College '98, Captain; Division III All-American;
1998 Academic All-American.
During her senior year at Amherst, Heidi scored her hundreth
college goal against Springfield College on March 31, 1998
and then went on to break the all-time scoring record for
Amherst with 132 goals. She was selected for the Academic
All-District and Regional All-American teams. During her senior
year Amherst was "Little Three Champs" and with
a record of 10-3.
Heidi began her teaching and coaching career in 1998. For
three years after college she taught math, lived in a dorm
and coached field hockey and lacrosse teams at Deerfield
Academy. Currently she is teaching at North
Yarmouth Academy, just north of Portland, ME where she
is the head coach in both field hockey and lacrosse.
