Playing at Exeter in the season finale, the girls in blue earned a 12-4 victory. Both teams had the jitters in the opening minutes and there were a lot of turnovers, but once the teams settled down, play picked up on both ends. Co-captains Laurel Sticklor and Kelly Stecker scored Andover's first two goals of the game, but Exeter responded with a goal to make it 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining in the first half. Andover's defense led by seniors Skylar Washburn and JeanMarie Gossard and upper goalie Julie Wadland did a superb job thwarting Exeter's offense. Andover scored two more goals to go up 4-1 but once again Exeter answered and made it 4-2 with 4:30 to go in the half. As time dwindled down, Andover notched its fifth goal of the game with only 20 seconds remaining to take a 5-2 advantage at the break. Andover opened the second half with more poise and confidence and the team scored five consecutives goals to open a 10-2 advantage with 14:30 left in the game. Andover did a much better job passing and controlling the draws as Tess Scott came up with several draw balls to initiate the Big Blue's fast break. Each team scored two goals in the remaining time to give PA the win by a 12-4 score. Andover's seven seniors played very well in their last game, and on offense, the five senior attack players each notched at least two points in the game. On defense, Gossard and Washburn came up with several groundballs and truly shutdown Exeter's offense. It was a great team victory by a truly super team. Looking to bounce back from two losses in the last two outings, the girls in blue had a very strong showing today against visiting Thayer. After a forty minute delay due to thunder and lightning, the Big Blue turned in a complete game end to end and earned an impressive 16-4 victory. Andover worked hard to win the draws and ground balls, and the team did a stellar job of pressuring and causing turnovers. Steph Krant, Ali Zindman, Katherine Dix and Margaret Moore all did a great job in the midfield creating pressure and coming up with loose balls. JeanMarie Gossard, Jevan Jammal, and Skylar Washburn also did a nice job coming up with a lot of ground balls today. Offensively, 10 different players registerd at least one point in today's contest - a season high. Julie Wadland had 6 saves in goal for the Big Blue. Andover is now 8-3 on the season and the team will host Lawrence Academy at four o'clock on Friday afternoon in the final home game of the season.

In a contest that was originally scheduled for May 25, but was moved to Monday, May 16 (PA will play at Tabor on 5/25 to makeup a rainout) Andover hosted Brooks in girls lacrosse. The North Andover school got the better of Andover by a 13-9 score. The game was tied at one, but then Brooks won successive draws and opened up a 4-1 lead. Brooks took advantage of Andover mistakes and continued to build their lead to 7-2. Andover closed with two goals in the last two minutes to make the score 8-4 at the break, and as it turned out that was the difference in the game. The second half was back and forth with each team having opportunities, and Andover cut into the Brooks lead on a couple of occasions. Unfortunately, however, the girls in blue couldn't go on the scoring run they needed to in order to get back into the game. Julie Wadland had a solid game in goal with 12 saves, and Skylar Washburn had a strong defensive game.

Travelling to Milton on a picture perfect spring day, the girls in Blue came away with a 16-9 victory. Andover had a difficult time getting its passing game on track today and midway through the first half the team held only a slim 2-1 lead over their hosts. PA did manage to score five goals in a three and a half minute period but the team gave up two in the final three to take a 7-4 lead at the half. The second half was similar to the first as each team took turns scoring. Jen Downing had a great game in the midfield for Andover. Julie Wadland made seven saves in the game.
The team's record on the season is now 7-1 and the team will host Loomis on Saturday at 2:30.

Travelling to Governor Dummer, the girls in blue earned a 16-6 win. Andover trailed 0-1 before scoring five in a row, and at the half, the Big Blue led 7-2. Andover's defense: JeanMarie Gossard, Caroline Moore, Skylar Washburn, Karen Schoenherr, Jevan Jammal, Jen Downing, Annie Boylan, Tess Scott and Ali Zindman all played a solid defensive game for PA. Goalie Julie Wadland made eight saves and was also first to many ground balls and loose balls behind the goal. Margaret Moore and Kat Dix played well in the midfield for Andover. The team's record is now 6-1 on the season and the team will play at Tabor on Saturday at 4:00pm.

On another rainy Saturday, the girls in blue took to the field and hosted Taft in a late afternoon contest. Unfortunately, however, the visitors came away the victors with a solid 16-9 win over Andover. Taft took what was a 1-1 game and went ahead 5-1 with 4 quick goals midway through the first half. Andover responded to make it 3-5, but the Big Blue could get no closer as Taft went on another scoring run to close out the half with four goals, building a 9-3 advantage at the break. Andover did a better job in the second half and the team had some momemtum but the first half deficit was too big to overcome. Tess Scott and JeanMarie Gossard played very well for Andover. Julie Wadland had 5 saves in goal for PA. Andover's record on the season is now 5-1 and the team will play next at GDA on Wednesday at 4:30.

In a matchup of two undefeated teams, Andover (4-0) hosted the Lady Zebras of Groton (6-0), and with an all-around strong team effort, the girls in Blue prevailed with a 12-7 victory. Despite steady and occasionally heavy rain throughout the game, Andover played two very determined halves of lacrosse. In the first half each team was a little tenative and the game was back and forth. Andover scored first, Groton answered; Andover scored again and Groton answered again. However, Andover was able to score two goals in the last eleven minutes of the half to take a 4-2 advantage at the break. Andover began the second half with tremendous energy. PA won the the draw and scored just twenty seconds into the half. The Blue then went on to score three more goals to open up an 8-2 advantage in just under three minutes and thirty seconds at the beginning of the second half. Groton called a time out and made it 8-3 with twenty-one minutes left in the game. Andover answered with three more goals to push the lead to 11-3 with under ten minutes to play. The final score was 12-7 as Andover improves to 5-0 on the season and looks ahead to hosting the Harvard JV on Wednesday for a 3:15 game. Julie Wadland had 8 saves in goal for PA, and JeanMarie Gossard had an outstanding defensive game as well.

Travelling to Concord, NH to play St. Paul's, the girls in Blue came away with a 13-7 win. Although Andover got off to a slow start and fell behind 0-1, 1-2, the girls managed to take a slim 4-3 lead at the half. On a day that felt more like summer than spring, Andover put together a much better showing in the second half. Andover went up 7-4 to open the half, but St. Paul's kept battling and they managed to close the score to 7-6. From then on, the Big Blue took control of the game and increased their lead to 10-6. Just thirteen seconds after SPS got its 7th goal, Andover answered with its11th goal of the game to seal the win. Today marked the first time in the season that all of Andover's players were healthy and able to play, and each player had game time in today's contest. Playing well defensively for Andover were Annie Boylan, Karen Schoenherr, Jen Downing and goalie Julie Wadland with 16 saves. The team is 4-0 on the season and the team will host Groton on Satuday for a 1:15 game.

Andover hosted KUA for a rare Friday twilight game, and the Blue posted a strong 13-2 victory. Forty-two seconds into the game Andover scored its first goal, and the team had built an 8-1 advantage at halftime. Highlights for the Big Blue offense were having 8 different players scoring and having 9 of the 13 goals being assisted. Defensively, Karen Schoenherr had a great game as did goalie Julie Wadland who had eight saves and several strong clearing throws. Andover is now 3-0 on the season and the team will play at St. Paul's on Wednesday for a 3:15 game.

On what turned out to be a beautiful spring day, Andover travelled to Deerfield and the Big Blue came away with a hard fought 14-9 victory. Andover got off to a sluggish start and trailed 0-1, 1-2, before scoring 4 consecutive goals and taking a 5-2 lead midway through the first half. Unfortunately, the team couldn't sustain the momentum and Deerfield scored the next three to tie the game at 5. Andover got a huge goal from Kelly Stecker with ten seconds remaining in the half to go up 6-5 at the break. The Big Blue had an excellent start to the second as the team had several great possessions, combining smart passing, good ball control and quality shots on goal. Andover went up 10-5 during the opening thirteen minutes of the second half, and the team didn't allow Deerfield its 6th goal, first of the second half, until there were only twelve minutes remaining in the game. The entire Andover team played with greater determination and tenacity in the scond half, and that was what made the difference in the game's outcome. Andover is now 2-0 on the season and the team will host KUA on Friday for a 5:30 game.

Andover jumped out early scoring just fifty seconds into the game, and the team increased the lead to 3-0 before Nobles got on the board with two goals of their own. Andover regrouped to score three in a row again, and at the half the Big Blue led 6-2. After a sluggish start to the second half, Andover got on the board with three more goals to build the lead to 9-3. Nobles scored its only goal of the second half with seven minutes remaining in the game. Julie Wadland was strong all day long in goal for the Big Blue as she had 13 saves in the game. The team will travel to Deerfield on Wednesday for a 3:15 game.

In a scrimmage against Middlesex the Big Blue came away with a 7-6 victory. Today marked the first time the team had been on a full field, and they did well in their transition game. Saturday brings the season opener, as the girls in blue will host Nobles for a two o'clock game.
