4/17/04 Girls Crew Continues Fast

In the six-team Andover/Exeter Invitational races, held Saturday
at Lake Quinsigamond, the PA girls captured first place in
all three boats. The girls third boat and second boat won
by 8 and 10 seconds respectively, while the first boat edged
Brookline by a single tick with a winning time of 5:58. Meanwhile,
the PA boys first boat, not yet hitting their stride for the
season, finished fourth with a time of 5:01, while the second
and third boats came third and fifth in their respective races.
Simsbury won the boys race, edging St. John's. Exeter was
third, just one second ahead of PA. Tabor and Northfield-Mount
Hermon also participated in the invitational event. Complete

Crew Off to Fast Start; Boys Beat Brookline, Trail Kent
In the opening races of the spring season, the Andover Crew
took on Kent School and Brookline High at the Merrimack River
course on Saturday. In sunny, cool conditions with a strong
tailwind and current, the Andover girls finished ahead of
Kent and Brookline with all three boats, the PA girls' first
boat edging Kent by 3.3 seconds. Meanwhile the Andover boys
out-stroked Brookline in the first two boats, but finished
second to Kent in all four boats in this early-season match-up.
