- Baseball
- Phelps Park In 1944 a new Upper
Middler from Watertown, Massachusetts arrived at Andover
to study and to play baseball. An outstanding pitcher, Richard
Phelps graduated from PA in 1946, went on to Yale and then
to a very successful business career, while remaining actively
interested and involved in athletics. In 1990 Dick made
an extraordinarily generous gift to the Academy including
funds for scholarships, for a number of campus projects,
and, in particular, for the renovation and improvement of
the baseball field, which was dedicated in May of 1993 as
Phelps Park.

Football
Brothers Field,
longtime home of Phillips Academy varsity teams, has been
renewed and improved with the construction of Phelps Stadium.
Dedicated in June of 2002, Phelps Stadium is a lighted facility
with seating for over 2000 spectators and is handicapped accessible.
From their locker rooms in the nearby Harrison Rink facility,
Andover athletes enter the stadium through the Sorota Tunnel,
named in honor of legendary football and track coach, Steve
Sorota. Brothers Field is also the game field for boys lacrosse
and is used for girls lacrosse, field hockey and soccer. |
