Dear Alums

On behalf of the Athletics Committee of the Alumni Council, we are pleased and excited to inform you of the establishment of the Andover Athletic Hall of Honor.

The Hall of Honor will celebrate members of the Phillips Academy and Abbot Academy communities who, through their experiences and affiliations with athletics, while at Andover or Abbot and/or after graduation, have demonstrated the highest levels of sportsmanship, teamwork, and competitive excellence.  Inductees will include superior athletes, as well as individuals who have taken what they learned on the playing field and applied it to a life reflective of Andover's and Abbot's educational mission and ideals. A full statement of the criteria for selection is available on the Andover website. Athletics were a major and positive component of our student lives. It is our hope that the Hall of Honor will reconnect and reunite alumni/ae through a common appreciation of the role athletics play in the wider society.    

Nominations for the Hall of Honor will come from you, the alumni/ae. You may nominate candidates online. Nominees may include not only alumni and alumnae of Andover and Abbot but also a coach or team.

The first class of inductees will be recognized Reunion Weekend 2008, on Saturday, June 14. While nominations will be accepted at any time, only those received by March 15 will be considered for the inaugural class of inductees. We welcome your nominations and look forward to your support in assuring the success of this significant initiative.
