Support the tradition of excellence

"The Andover Fund represents a collective effort by our alumni and parents to provide critical support for the academy's highest priorities–above all, our students and faculty. Thank you for participating."

–Barbara Landis Chase

Head of School

NON SIBI
(Non Sibi means "not for self" and is found in the Phillips Academy seal.)

“Through philanthropy alumni, parents and friends have the special opportunity and privilege of matching their interests and values to fulfilling Andover's purposes, programs, and aspirations. That can be a profoundly satisfying experience.”

-Al Blum ’62
Alumni Trustee and Co-Chair of the Annual Giving Board

The Non Sibi Association recognizes leadership giving to any priority at Phillips Academy. Non Sibi donors are critical to both the Andover Fund, which provides support for the most pressing needs of the academy–faculty and program support, scholarship, technology and campus renewal–as well as to the highest priorities which secure the future–endowment or capital support.

The spirit of non sibi giving at Andover represents selfless leadership. Each year, alumni, alumnae, parents and friends join or rejoin the Non Sibi Association. This collective effort supports and sustains Andover's strong tradition of all-around excellence–teaching, academics, students, athletics and campus facilities. Philanthropy at the non sibi levels makes the difference between Andover being a good school and the great school that it is.

Non sibi gifts assume greater importance as Andover prepares "youth from every quarter" for the unique challenges of the 21st century. The future depends on the non sibi ideal articulated in the academy's Statement of Purpose, which "challenges students in mind, body and spirit to see beyond themselves and to go beyond the familiar; to remain committed to developing what is finest in themselves and others, for themselves and others." As you consider your contribution this year, please reflect on the significance of Andover's mission.

Gifts at non sibi levels are often made through a donation of appreciated securities. A stock gift to Andover may give the donor an income tax deduction and avoid capital gains tax, thereby reducing the donor’s after-tax cost of the donation. The donor should check with a financial advisor in order to take full advantage of these possible savings. (For more information on making a gift of securities, please contact Barbara Jean Jesmer 978-749-4298 or bjesmer@andover.edu).

Non sibi recognition is based on the total amount of cash or securities received in the fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).

Your consideration is appreciated.
