Tori's Bio     see her journal

Hi everyone,

My name is Tori, and I am an upper (11th grader) from Andover, MA. I absolutely love being a student at Phillips Academy, and I can’t wait to share my experiences with you.

I am a day student from Andover. Being a day student is a slightly different experience, but I really like it. I have the chance to experience life and all the opportunities at a boarding school, while still remaining connected to my family and home. Though there is so much going on at school that I am constantly on campus.  My house is on the other side of the town of Andover, about 15 minutes from PA. I live with my mom, twin sister Lauren, younger brother Zach, and our two dogs Java and Chip. Lauren also goes to PA and is the captain of the girls varsity tennis team, which we both play on. We had an undefeated season last year and are looking forward to tennis this spring. I am also playing cluster soccer this fall, which is a lot of fun!

There are so many amazing opportunities here at PA; I have been able to try many different things that I never dreamed I might be doing. I may repeat this, but that is only because there is so much you can involved with at PA! One of my favorite parts of Andover is community service. I am the event coordinator for a group called the Center for Global Justice, a student run group dedicated to promoting understanding of world issues. I have also participated in other community service projects like Academy Manor, Breadloaf Pen-pals, and Service Saturdays. In addition, I love giving tours in the admissions office, which was actually my job this past summer. I had a great time showing potential students around the Andover campus. I am also a writer at large for Backtracks, a general interest magazine on campus and write for several other publications as well.

I am taking some wonderful (and challenging) classes this year, including, Upper English, advanced Spanish literature, American history, AP biology, and pre-calculus. In general I really love English, languages, and history and thus enjoy those classes the most.

Overall, I think one of the best things about PA is the people here. Everyone is incredibly friendly and supportive, as well as talented and enthusiastic. The teachers especially are dedicated to not only helping you with their particular subject, but also encourage you with life in general. The friends I have made at Andover are some of the best that I have and also some of the most unique people I have ever met. Getting to know people from so many different places and backgrounds has been amazing.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year sharing my experiences at Phillips Academy with you!
