Hi Everyone,

My name is Midori and I’m a Junior (9th grader) here at Andover. Although I lived in Florida for the past year, I’m originally from Tokyo, Japan. So far this year has been fantastic. I live in Nathan Hale, the largest freshman girls dorm on campus. Because I live with so many fun and interesting girls, I had an easy time making countless new friends. They are truly like my second family.

Last year, I went to a tennis academy in Florida, and I loved it there. I was given a choice: continue living at the Academy, or attend Andover. I can proudly say that coming to Andover has been the best decision I’ve ever made. This school has such a diverse community, as well as many unique and talented individuals. Andover is a place for high quality learning, as well as an enjoyable schooling environment full of people who welcome you with open arms. Where else could you find some of the most focused students in the nation having a blast at one of our famous weekly dances in the Ryley Room?

This year I dove into a myriad of clubs, community service activities, and sports. I’m part of the Philomathian Society (the school’s awesome debate club), Model United Nations, Eco-Action, ARC (a program where we interact with special needs children and adults), and field hockey. I also write pen-pal letters to children in our neighboring town of Lawrence, and I recently participated in the Bread and Roses Picnic for the hungry. I’m also going to be Dorm Representative for Nathan Hale East. My hectic and exciting schedule just goes to show that Andover offers many opportunities for each and every person, no matter how varied their interests are. There is a place for everyone here at Andover.

Hopefully, my journal entries will help you, as potential students, learn more about everyday life here at Andover. I look forward to this coming year, and also to sharing my inevitably awesome experiences with you as I continue my first year here at PA.

Talk to you soon!

Midori
