Some of the Addison's great paintings and sculptures are about to go on an extended trip when the exhibition Coming of Age: American Art 1850s to 1950s, which opened at the Addison in fall 2006, begins an eighteen month tour in November. The exhibition will travel to the Meadows Museum in Dallas, the Dulwich Picture Gallery in London, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, and the Museum of Art-Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
This traveling exhibition will broaden the Addison's national and international audience and allow us to plumb the depth and breadth of the Addison's extensive collection in the coming year. Before that, we have chosen to highlight some of our treasures this spring, helping us to conclude our 75th anniversary by bidding them not "goodbye" but "'til we meet again."
This exhibition has been generously funded by the Sidney R. Knafel Exhibition Fund.
