Terry Winters
Paintings, Drawings, Prints
1994-2004

Terry Winters Paintings, Drawings, Prints 1994 - 2004 surveys a decade of Winters's work, revealing the interrelationships among his paintings, drawings, prints, and artist books. Organized into seven chronological groups, each section reveals the artist's preoccupation with a range of conceptual, aesthetic, and speculative concerns. The exhibition will demonstrate Winters's abiding commitment to the materiality and processes of art making. Not interested in "reproducing or inventing form," Winters's art serves as a vehicle for "harnessing forces." These works shows that markmaking in the twenty-first century is viable, vigorous, and highly relevant, bridging the gap between the real and the virtual, the natural and the artificial, the physical and the theoretical.
