CONVERSATIONS:
A COLLECTION IN DIALOGUE
January 7-July 31, 2003
One
of the most important museums of American art in the country, the Addison
houses a collection of more than 13,000 objects representing a full
range of paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture, decorative arts, and
photography, from the eighteenth through the twentieth century.
Conversations: A Collection in Dialogue will include this wide range
of media from the past three centuries to explore the common yet distinct
ways in which artists such as John Singleton Copley, John Smibert, Eastman
Johnson, Thomas Eakins, Hans Hofmann, Franz Kline, Jackson Pollock,
Maud Morgan, and Arthur Dove speak to each other and reflect their times.
This exhibition is supported by the Sidney R. Knafel Exhibitions Fund.
