Paintings, Drawings, and Prints in the Addison Collection

Explorations
will reveal the working methods of artists Winslow Homer, Eastman Johnston,
John Sloan, Childe Hassam, George Bellows, and Edward Hopper through
a presentation of studies and related art objects. Preliminary drawings
for Hopper's Manhattan Bridge Loop show the compositional development
of this well-known masterpiece. Wood engravings, watercolors, and paintings
by Homer explore the subject of the sea and John Sloan's prints and
drawings investigate urban topics related to his painting, Sunday, Women
Drying Their Hair.
