Meet the Students

Carolyn 2009

North Andover, MA

Carolyn says that dancing in the Boston Ballet's prestigious youth program for five summers, “solidified my love of dance.” All the better, when she was accepted at Andover, to learn of the Academy's exceptional dance program. “I was excited because the facilities and programs were so great,” she says.

In addition to her work in ballet at Andover, Carolyn studies in Georgetown, Mass., at a school whose affiliation with the Royal Academy of Dance won her the opportunity recently to travel to London to dance in a competition sponsored by the RAD.

In her winter term at Andover in 2006, she took on a double role in The Nutcracker-the Snow Queen and Mirliton. A contemporary piece in the school's Dance Open, showcased her choreography, and she performed with the Andover Dance Group in their modern dance show.

Carolyn was one of four dance students selected to appear in the theatre and dance department's 2007 production of Violet. New York actor/dancer Trevor Efinger was brought in to coach the group. She called it “an amazing opportunity.”

An honor-roll student, Carolyn admits to being “studious and dedicated to my work.” She says she will pursue dance as a minor in college. “It is my outlet, and it connects you with other facets of your life.”
