Openings at the Mountain School of Milton Academy

The Mountain School has openings for French and math teachers.  These are full-time, salaried positions that includes fantastic housing with room for a family, great food, and medical benefits. Teachers who would add to the diversity of our faculty are highly encouraged to apply.The Mountain School is a one-semester academic program set on a three-hundred acre farm in central Vermont. Education Ambassador

GOOD is looking for an Education Ambassador to join our team. We present a unique opportunity for talented individuals who thrive in creative, entrepreneurial environments. If you’re excited about the challenge of building a dynamic company, community, and brand, we’d love to hear from you.

GOOD is working on a high-profile project that will help support hundreds of projects pushing the world forward. Projects will be supported with money, exposure & expertise. In order to make this happen, we are looking for six individuals, each of who will serve as an ‘Ambassador’ within one of 6 categories: Health, Arts & Culture, The Planet, Neighborhoods, Education, and Food & Shelter. Position and Responsibilities

The Ambassador will serve as the expert in the field by sourcing competitive projects and increasing awareness around Education and the projects poised to make a difference. The Ambassador will work cross-functionally, with GOOD’s management team, the project manager, and the content & grants teams. Key responsibilities:

  • Content Manager
    • Create: Produce category specific content: 2-4 blog posts per week, plus feature articles on key projects within the space (e.g. case studies, how-to guides, interviews)
    • Curate: Invite leaders in field to contribute content and participate in supporting projects
  • Category Expert
    • Act as the visible expert for the category – both within GOOD & externally
    • Proactively & reactively engage with other media covering the space
    • Maintain a daily presence on GOOD.is, interacting with participants on the site
  • Project Champion
    • Each month, source 10-15 projects, for assigned category, that have tangible plans to make a difference, but require funding; support these orgs / individuals through the online grant application process
    • Review project submissions, interact with project leaders, test assumptions and endorse the best on GOOD.is
  • Project Advisor
    • Help support winning orgs / individuals by providing advice and facilitating connections to other individuals & organizations that could help support those projects
  • Community Organizer
    • Create & manage a category advisory board, which will consist of industry leaders who help steer the project and suggest grant recipients
    • Manage monthly advisory board meetings
    • Work with Grant Coordinators / Grant-making Team to ensure all grant winners are supported in implementation and fill feedback loop

Prior Experience

  • 4+ years experience in an entrepreneurial environment, or a fast-paced corporate or non-profit environment
  • Experience contributing to a high-profile website or magazine
  • Extensive network within given field, throughout NPOs, companies & thought leaders
  • Excellent organizational skills

CUNY Office of Academic Affairs Job Description:

 

 

The City University of New York Office of Academic Affairs (CUNY Central) is seeking a motivated self-starter with strong program management skills to serve a full-time Program Coordinator for its Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) program. The ASAP program coordinator would report to the University Director and responsibilities would include provision of support to campus ASAP programs, coordination of special programs, and facilitation of overall program management and evaluation of ASAP.

ASAP is designed to improve graduation rates at CUNY’s six community colleges. Funded by the New York City Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) since fall 2007, the program has provides students with a comprehensive academic, financial and counseling support to obtain their Associate Degrees in a timely manner. Program services include consolidated class schedules with fellow ASAP students; cost-free tuition and fees for financial aid-eligible students; free use of textbooks for all classes; free Metrocards; and intensive academic advisement and job development support services. The goal of ASAP is to graduate 50% of its students in three years and 75% within four years.  ASAP currently serves a cohort of 1,000 students entering their second year of full-time study.

 The ASAP Program Coordinator will:

Review quality of advisement, academic support services and career development programs delivered by participating colleges to ASAP students;

Co-coordinate special programs such as professional development for staff, the ASAP Student Leadership Program, and periodic special events;

Serve as Central Office point of contact for three community colleges;

Assist the University Director and Evaluation Specialist in the review of data for program management and evaluation purposes;

Assist with preparation of periodic reports and proposal for funders and University leadership;  and

Support the University Director in review of annual plans and mid-year and final reports from the colleges.

The ideal candidate will have:

Minimum Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred, in a related field;

At least 4 years experience administering education initiatives, preferably grant-funded;

Excellent written and inter-personal skills;

Ability to work collaboratively and independently on multiple related projects;

Understanding of fiscal requirements and budgets of grant projects;

Strong computer skills (Word and Excel required);

Excellent multi-tasking ability; event planning experience a plus;

Understanding of the organization of public higher education systems; and

Familiarity with issues faced by community colleges at the national level, especially in urban settings.

Salary:  $55,000-60,000, commensurate with experience.

Ann Plato Pre/Post-Doctoral Diversity Fellowship at Trinity College

Trinity College invites applications for a one-year pre- or post-doctoral fellowship to promote diversity at our liberal arts college in Hartford, Connecticut. Ann Plato Fellows will join the faculty in one of over 30 academic departments or interdisciplinary programs, interact regularly with colleagues and students on campus, and work on their own research. Pre-doctoral fellows will teach one course during the year; post-doctoral fellows will teach two courses. Date of fellowship: September 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011. Stipend: Between mid-$40,000 (pre-doctoral) to mid-$50,000 (post-doctoral), plus health benefits, office space, computer, conference travel expenses, and assistance in finding housing near campus.
