Unaccompanied Minors
Club Description
Unaccompanied Minors (UM, for short), is PA’s first entirely student-run orchestra. Founded in 2007, we've provided the Andover community with entertaining music for the past 2 years. We accept new members at the beginning of each term, and we’ll take anyone who plays an orchestral instrument and is willing to come to rehearsals, every Sunday at 3:15 pm. Each term, we choose at least three pieces, and attempt to include a classical orchestra piece as well as some higher-profile popular music. The repertoire is chosen by a vote, and everyone in the group has the opportunity to suggest pieces. Nowhere else on campus will you hear Sibelius and Sandstorm in the same rehearsal. In the past years, we've played arrangements by our own members, performed in front of thousands of people in an India Republic Day celebration, and blew the audience away in entertaining ASM acts. To get an idea of what we sound like, check out the links from our Spring Concert 2009.
We play music, tell jokes, put on concerts, we eat pizza…we’re the Unaccompanied Minors, adult-free since 2007. Ask any PA kid what the best group on campus is, and nine times out of ten, the first thing out of their mouths will be “um…”
