Phillips Academy Red Cross
Club Description
PARC is considered both a club and community service program here at Andover. Founded in the fall of 2005, PARC stresses the threat of national disasters worldwide and discusses what we as individuals can do to help. Our aspirations for the year include fundraising for international and local charities, educating the PA community about emergency preparedness, and actually going to the local chapter to assist with disaster relief services.
Since the winter of 2007, PARC has successfully raised more than $1800 which has been donated to the International Measles and Malaria Initiatives and the local Merrimack Valley Chapter. By selling Red Cross bracelets and handing out brochures about disaster preparedness, we hope to spread awareness about the importance of disaster relief services. Our renowned Valentine’s Day teddy grams (teddy bears together with cards that are placed in student mailboxes) are also our way of educating Andover students about the Red Cross organization. Additionally, CPR and First Aid training organized by PARC is open to the entire student body. From organizing coloring books, holiday cards and pamphlets for Toys for Tots to painting the local chapter’s offices, PARC members attempt to do whatever is possible to help the Red Cross organization accomplish its numerous projects both within America and overseas.
