Club Description
Phillips Academy’s Model United Nations club is currently the largest student-run club on campus, with over 400 members. It hosts two entirely student-run conferences - PAMUN in the fall and PAISC in the spring. During the winter, skilled delegates are invited to the North American Invitational Model United Nations Conference (NAIMUN) at Georgetown University in Washington DC. In 2008, the Andover delegation did better than it ever has, winning 16 awards and placing in third as a school. The club provides students the opportunity to experience stimulations of the United Nations aiming to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. In Model U.N., students take on roles as foreign diplomats, research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, and then develop solutions to world problems.
