Club Description
Mock Trial is a nationwide activity in which students simulate trial proceedings, acting as lawyers and witnesses. The trials deal with real life scenarios and also incorporate current laws, statutes and case law.
Andover Mock Trial helps develop crucial speaking skills in a trial-like setting. Club members will discover how to become effective attorneys, arguing for the side of the prosecution (or plaintiff) or the defense. Or, participants can act as witnesses testifying about valuable evidence. Students of all levels are encouraged to join.
Our club prepares one case each term for beginner, intermediate, and advanced participants. Past cases have dealt with: second degree murder, self-defense, freedom of expression and various other civil and criminal charges.
Mock Trial competitions take place at the middle school, high school, and college levels. We will be participating in both interscholastic and intramural competitions – including the Massachusetts State Mock Trial Tournament (MassBar). Andover Mock Trial also sends a group of participants to the National Learning for Life Mock Trial Competition in the summer.
Aside from the trials, Andover Mock Trial also sponsors notable judges and attorneys to discuss the American Judicial System and Mock Trial.
So, welcome to Andover Mock Trial!
