Club Description

The purpose of the Asian Society is to educate and share with both its members and the greater school community Asian and Asian American issues, cultures and traditions. The club sponsors field trips, films, speakers and activities related to Asian and Asian American culture. It is open to all members of the Phillips Academy community who share Asian background and /or interests.

Asian SocietyAsian Society meets every Wednesday evening to discuss issues regarding Asians and Asian Americans. During meetings, we tackle many difficult questions facing Asian/Asian American youth today. What is the “Asian American” identity? What do Asian stereotypes consist of and how do we break them? What is a “twinkie”? In addition to discussion-based meetings, Asian Society tries to raise campus awareness of Asian culture through Asian-related events such as the Asian Arts Festival in the spring. Most importantly, though, Asian Society is fun! Between the regular meetings, the log cabin sleepover, the basketball tournament, and various other events, club members are able to bond with each other, creating lasting friendships that extend to other parts of PA life.
