Amnesty International

Club Description

The goal of this club is to spread human rights awareness across campus, for those who have never been involved in social advocacy and for those who are interested in learning more. Amnesty International is a worldwide non-profit organization, which unites people in the campaign for internationally recognized human rights. As a chapter of Amnesty International at a high school, our club writes letters each week protesting violations of international human rights standards, calling for fair trials or arguing against unfair treatment. We are joined by hundreds of schools across the country. In the spring, we hope to further spread awareness to the campus community by showing a video on four of AI USA’s campaigns: Prisoners of Conscience, Stop the Violence Against Women, Death Penalty Abolition, and the War on Terror/Torture. We also hope to bring in a speaker.
