Broadening Horizons
Begun in 2002 by Andover’s Alumni Council and the Office of Alumni Affairs, Broadening Horizons is a biannual initiative co-sponsored by the Community Service Program that brings members of the current senior and upper classes together with an equal number of Andover alums for a day of discussion, exchange, and inquiry around the notion of “the great end and real business of living.” Each spring, approximately 50 students join 50 alums in small group discussions that focus on the richness and variety of the journey of life.
Organized around specific topic areas (for example, “World Events,” “Leadership,” “Choices” and most recently “Non Sibi”), these small group gatherings provide students with an unparalleled opportunity to engage former PA students in discussions that bring the lessons of Andover to life in a real-world context. In hearing from alums (and from each other), participants gain new perspective on their time at Andover and begin to consider how they will impact the world that lies before them.
