Office of Community Engagement
Welcome to community engagement at Phillips Academy!
Thanks to our office’s long-standing relationships with community partners in the surrounding area, students have over thirty programs to get involved with, and they can choose to volunteer in programs on or off campus. Sign-ups are held at the start of every term, and spots fill up quickly! Every term, about 400 students participate in our projects, which meet weekly Sunday through Thursdays, and we work with students to figure out how they can include community engagement in their schedules.
Our students always are excited and eager to work with our community partners. At Andover, we talk a lot with students about the differences between “engagement” and “service.” Our students learn, grow, and benefit from their time with our community partners just as much as our community partners do, and through the relationships our students build with our community partners, they also deepen their understanding of commitment, of empathy, and of caring for those around them. Our hope is that through their involvement with our office’s programs, students learn how to respectfully work with communities throughout the rest of their lives.
We hope you enjoy our website and find everything that you may be looking for. Enjoy!
