Physical Plant
A few of the exciting steps taken by the Office of the Physical Plant to reduce PA’s environmental impact:
- Implemented a number of exciting, high-impact, energy-saving technologies, including our state-of-the-art campus energy management system
- Cogeneration capability at our renovated power plant
- Advanced control technologies to dehumidify our hockey rink using the available waste heat from the ice making system
- For campus heating and electricity production, the power plant burns natural gas – the cleanest of all fossil fuels
- The Sustainability Office partnered with our school’s Office of the Physical Plant to implement an energy saving compact fluorescent light bulb project for boarding students
- LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for the upcoming renovation of Commons Dinning Hall
- The Addison Gallery’s green roof project
