"My fondest memories will be of my extracurricular activities"

Jennifer - Class of 2010 Reading, MA

As a day student, Jennifer finds herself on campus almost seven days a week studying, rehearsing and hanging out with friends—and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Devoting most of her spare time to music, dance, and the PA Science Club, all of her hard work has paid off this year.

During the fall term she starred as Clara in the school’s bi-annual full-length production of The Nutcracker ballet. During the winter term, she choreographed a modern dance piece for the Andover Dance Group, featured alongside with choreography by acclaimed choreographer Mark Morris. In the spring she named the co-winner of the Jeanne Selander Memorial Concerto Competition, giving her the opportunity to perform a piano piece with the Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra.

“It’s hard to choose between my two passions,” says Jennifer. “I just focus on whichever I’m involved in at the time.” And that’s life for her at Phillips Academy—finding a way to balance her intensive dance and music training while meeting her academic requirements and having fun in the process.

“I love the challenging and engaging courses but my fondest memories will be of my extracurricular activities.” Even though Jennifer cherishes her time on stage, she is focused on her academic future, hoping to study pre-med and become a doctor.
