Project-Based Learning at the Addison
The Addison education staff collaborates with educators to create and support long-term projects inspired by exhibitions, collection themes, museum practice, or particular artists. Addison staff works with teachers to develop and support collaborative, creative, cross-disciplinary projects that meet multiple social and academic objectives. Each unique project – lasting several weeks to a full school year – is constructed from the goals and interests of teachers and students and creates curriculum connections. Projects have engaged students in geometry and abstract art, the world of weaving, exploration of the natural world, and personal and community identity. The Photography and Writing Program enables and inspires students to explore their community and express themselves in words and images.
