Thank you to our generous donors!
Thanks to the Addison’s generous friends and donors, the museum received very strong support for its annual fund this year. At the close of the 2010 fiscal year on June 30, contributions to the annual fund totaled $950,000, an increase of 34% over the previous year.
About half of the gifts were unrestricted. Such gifts provide critical resources for a wide variety of core museum functions, ranging from the Addison’s education outreach and public programs to collections care, climate control, and security.
Donors contributed about $430,000 to support new acquisitions, such as Dale Chihuly’s Black Niijima Floats, purchased as the gift of R. Crosby Kemper ‘45, in memory of his roommate, Harry C. Morgan, and a video by Kara Walker, which was purchased as the gift of Stephen C. Sherrill ’71.
Additional restricted support was given for exhibitions, including a grant from the Dedalus Foundation in New York in support of the Addison’s 2011-2012 show American Vanguards: Graham, Davis, Gorky, de Kooning, and Their Circle, 1927 – 1942.
