The Andover boys' and girls' crew team opened their seasons this past weekend with victories over Kent, Lowell, and Brookline. For the boys' first boat, the win meant regaining possession of the coveted "Dent Oars." Since the mid '70s, Kent and Andover B1 teams compete for the "Dent Oars" a trophy created in honor of John Dent who coached at Andover in the late '60s with Bill Brown '34 and at Kent in the early '70s with Hart Perry. This year, for the first time ever, John Dent was on hand to view the competition held in his name. In the photo above, Dent, far left, poses with the winning boys' team. (Photo by Sam Darby)
