The Higgins Armory Visit
Outreach educators from The Higgins Armory in Worcester, Massachusetts came to the Peabody Museum in January to demonstrate the use of medieval armor to all 9th grade History 100 classes. The program was funded by an Abbot Academy Association grant, which also enabled the museum to construct a model trebuchet. During the early weeks of the winter term, students used the medieval weapon to fire produce at targets. The goal of the Abbot grant was to give History 100 students hands-on learning opportunities to explore the cross-cultural evolution of weaponry that influenced the course of world history during the late medieval period (1100-1400 A.D). |
