Marcia McCabe Abbot Academy 1973

Andover, MA

Marcia McCabe is proud to be part of Abbot Academy’s last graduating class. “I was a very insecure girl from Pennsylvania and had been unhappy at my previous school,” says Marcia. “I was unsure about Abbot, but it didn’t take me long to absolutely fall in love with the place and the people.”

Always interested in theatre and arts, Marcia credits the nurturing and accepting community at Abbot with giving her the confidence to pursue her passions.

“Abbot was where I found myself and became comfortable and confident with who I am. It was a place that celebrated our differences and challenged us to pursue our dreams.”

Marcia enjoyed a 17-year acting career in daytime drama, including nine years on the soap opera Search For Tomorrow. She lives in New York City with her husband, Christopher, a television director and producer, and their daughter and son. Marcia donated a dressing room for students at the Tang Theatre in 1992 and as a long-time volunteer has served as class secretary and class agent and on the Alumni Council. “The very spirit and fabric of a school where people come from all over the world to learn and appreciate each other’s differences will always be with me and always be at Andover.”
