Alicia Eastman 1993
Hong Kong
When Alicia Eastman ’93 speaks of her volunteer work, the enthusiasm in her voice grows noticeably. She began volunteering in Des Moines, Iowa, when she was 11 years old. After arriving at Phillips Academy, Alicia became involved in ARC, which matches PA students with a child who has special needs.
“At Andover, I encountered true diversity: national, religious, racial, and economic,” she says. Here, she also developed her interest in Asia when she took a “fantastic course on Southeast Asian studies.”
Today. as a partner at a private equity fund in Hong Kong, Alicia concentrates on growth capital in India and Greater China with secondary emphasis on the rest of the Asian region.
Her volunteer commitments span the world. She is on the board of One Ummah, an organization that builds schools in developing countries, as well as Prospero, a London-based group that vets charities for foundations and individual donors. As secretary of the Andover Association of Hong Kong, Alicia co-organized with Gage McAfee ’61 birthday parties for underprivileged children on Non Sibi Day 2007.
“Andover was a gateway to helping me learn about new cultures and giving back to my community,” she says.
