2009 Senior Gift

The Class of 2009 Senior Gift competition is underway!

This year, given the re-opening of Paresky Commons during the spring of our senior year, we decided it would be nice to dedicate the money raised to Paresky Commons. Believe it or not, Paresky Commons is not fully funded even though it will be opening in two months. In fact, just over half of the money needed for the building has been raised.

In the new lobby of Paresky Commons there will be a plaque for only the most generous donors. The class of 2009 will be listed on this special plaque.

Facts about the Senior Gift:

The senior class gift is more about PARTICIPATION versus dollars raised. Every person counts and everyone should feel as if their donation is important. Whether you give $5.00, $20.09, or $250.00 (non sibi), what matters most is that you are part of the senior gift process and that you participate.

Our goal is to beat the participation record. Here are the participation statistics over the past five years:

Class of 2004                  43% participation
Class of 2005*               85% participation
Class of 2006                  70%  participation
Class of 2007                  60%  participation
Class of 2008                  63%  participation

*Senior Gift Participation record.
(Dollars raised over the past five years have ranged from $6,000 to $11,000.)

Our Goal:

The class of 2009 wants to beat the 85% participation rate. In fact, we think we can hit 100%!!!!!

How are we going to achieve this goal?

In order to make this fun and manageable, we have broken the senior class into six teams and assigned each team a color. We have two team captains for each team:

Overall Senior Class Participation is Currently at 93%

 Team  Captains Donors
Pink  Malin Adams & Brittany Peltz
 52
Green  Anabel Bacon & Krystle Manuel-Countee
 49
Orange  Eliza Campbell & Kenneth Gould
 52
Purple  Kaitlin Gaiss & Abigail Levene
 49
Yellow  Emma Goldstein & Malik Jenkins
 54
Brown  Elizabeth Patino & Victoria Seman
 45

Your team captains will be contacting you to let you know that you are on their team. They will also be encouraging you to join in and give to the senior gift. They will think of fun spirited ways to engage their teams and compete to try to be the first team to reach 100% participation. Overall class participation will be measured and announced from time to time in all school meetings, in UnCommons and on the website.

How do I make a donation/give to my Senior Gift?

You can either work with your team captain and give cash which will be transferred to the annual giving office or you can go online and use a credit card to make a donation. When you give, you will notice that you will have a chance to give your gift in honor of someone. If you would like to give your gift in honor of one of your teachers, you can write the teacher’s name on the gift slip or on the online form. A special note will go to that teacher indicating that your donation was in honor of him/her. (The amount of your gift will not be disclosed in the note.)

Incentives

Along the way there will be fun incentives for the class in order to increase participation. For example, all seniors who have made a donation by April 1, will be entered into a drawing for special prizes. An Andover alum has donated Boston Red Sox tickets which will be raffled off in this drawing.
