Af-Lat-Am Celebrates 45th Anniversary
Start Date: April 05 3:00 PM
A keynote speech by activist and author Wes Moore and a concert by Kevin Olusola ’06 and his a cappella group Pentatonix are just two of the special events planned for the weekend of April 5-7 as Af-Lat-Am celebrates its 45th anniversary.
Sponsored by CAMD and Andover’s Office of Alumni Affairs, the anniversary program promises a mix of learning, socializing, reflection, stimulation, and fun. Alumni returning to campus for the event will be able to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, reflect on their journeys since Andover, learn about student life today, and enjoy the campus in springtime.
The weekend kicks off on Friday with a dinner and keynote speech by Wes Moore, author of The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates. Saturday features a wide range of events including workshops, a Q&A with Head of School John Palfrey, a Pentatonix performance, and an evening of dinner and dancing.
On Sunday morning, there will be a celebration of the life of Jay Rogers, a beloved history teacher and dear friend to many, who passed away recently. Jay was one of the initiators of the Sojourner Truth Scholarship Fund, which provides financial aid for deserving students, with preference for students of color.
